Sisyphus

Welcome to this project in which I explore the myth of Sisyphus, a legend emblematic of the human condition and perseverance in the face of the absurdity of existence. Sisyphus, the mythical founder of Corinth, is condemned by the gods to eternally push a boulder up a hill, only to see it inevitably fall back down.
In the midst of this endless cycle, Sisyphus discovers a profound and rare truth: meaning lies not in the summit reached, but in the journey itself.

The distinctive feature of my landscapes is Sisyphus' physical absence. This symbolises the disillusionment and disconnection felt in modern society, where people often feel lost or disconnected from their true purpose. These landscapes can be interpreted as a representation of the alienation and isolation that many people feel today.

However, they also invite you to look at a light, the distance, the firmament.
Each element - the rock, the sphere, the mountain, the path - also evokes the perpetual struggle and insatiable desire to overcome obstacles.
In my creations, I also draw inspiration from Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken objects using gold or silver.
Just as Sisyphus persists in his absurd task, we can find beauty and meaning in our own cracks and scars. Where the boulder falls, we can see opportunities for repair, growth and transformation, reminding us that our trials are not failures, but essential parts of our journey.

So, through these landscapes, I invite you to reflect on our own relationship with effort, perseverance, resilience and the meaning of our existence in a world where the search for meaning can sometimes seem lost, but can also be found in the simple contemplation of beauty.
